New vessels delivered as Bahamas upgrades fleet

1 August 2014

The first two vessels have been commissioned into service by the Royal Bahamas Defence Force (RBDF), as part of a B$232 million fleet renewal programme.

Damen Shipyards, a Dutch company, has now delivered two of four 42m Legend-class offshore patrol craft. Also being procured are a 30m Stan Patrol 3007 coastal patrol craft, 59m Stan Lander 5612 landing craft, and nine rigid-hull inflatable boats.

Alongside the deliveries, Damen will also supervise mid-life upgrades to the two existing 61m vessels to extend their service lives.
