The F-35 Lightning II Programme, also known as the Joint Strike Fighter Programme, is lead by Lockheed Martin, while Northrop Grumman and BAE Systems are principal partners. Nine nations are partnering in the F-35's system development and demonstration (SDD) phase: The US, UK, Italy, the Netherlands, Turkey, Canada, Denmark, Norway, and Australia.

The F-35 programme utilizes the latest technologies within advanced aerostructures, design, sensor systems, electronics, and stealth capabilities.

A major strategic supplier to the F-35

Terma is considered a major strategic supplier to the F-35, a role that highlights Terma's unique position in the programme. The programme is based on a best value-approach, and Terma's wide participation shows that we can deliver world-class high-tech solutions at competitive prices and conditions. Terma Aerostructures A/S has currently delivered systems and products to the F-35 programme for more than 500 million DKK.

Lockheed Martin expects to manufacture more than 3,000 F-35 aircraft and when full-rate production is initiated in 2015, one F-35 aircraft will be manufactured every day.

Fighter competition in Denmark

Denmark is to replace its F-16 fighter aircraft by 2020. The F-35 is participating in the competition against the F-18 Super Hornet from Boeing Company and the Eurofighter built by Airbus.
