UAE places requests for $476-million sale of AGM-114 R/K Hellfire category III missiles

12 September 2016

The US State Department has approved a possible foreign military sale (FMS) of AGM-114 R/K Hellfire category III missiles, and equipment, training and support to the UAE Ministry of Defence.

Under this $476-million FMS programme, the UAE Government has requested the supply of 4,000 AGM-114 R/K Hellfire missiles over the next three years in increments of 1,000–1,500 missiles, along with training and technical assistance.

The proposed sale will help the UAE improve its capabilities against current and future threats, as a deterrent to regional threats and to strengthen its homeland defence.

The US Defense Security Cooperation Agency notified Congress of this possible FMS in May 2016.

Lockheed Martin Missile and Fire Control is expected to be the prime contractor for the programme.
